Class #12: Symbolizing your Society and HW

Collaborate with your group to formally write up your society's rules or manifesto. Write a short introduction headed by your society's chosen name, and a description of the world that you live in. Feel free to adopt a zany tone like the Futurists, be formal like the Declaration of Independence writers, or whatever mood fits your society.

Then write the agreed-upon rules, beliefs, or principles that you defined in class and used to construct your banner. If you wish to change some of these rules, do so by group consensus.

Then post your finished manifesto to each society-member's blog. Attach your banner if you've finished it.

Our SOCIETY we create after the post-apocalyptic community is a peaceful society where humans and machines like robots co-exist together. We have create our civilization through the remnants of the machines, guns and robots. Our society is highly technologically developed that every things will be done by the robots we have created as we can control them. Our society is named as "Techno-civilian" society. Though, our lives were occupied by the technology, we are very Eco-friendly. The humans and robots will all live together with comfort, peace and environmentally healthy. There are rules we live by.

  • Everyone must RECYCLE, REUSE AND REDUCE.  Not Eco-Friendly, will be fined up to $1,000.
  • No fighting within ourselves. Will be jailed for up to 20 years.
  • Everyone must have the knowledge of the technology. "Be Smart" "Learn and Practice"
  •  Everyone must be responsible and protective about our society. "Patriotism"
  • No toleration for those who committed treacherous against our society. " Traitor" Will be beheaded.
  • No crimes(theft, murder, rape, assault) can be tolerated. Will be beheaded.
  • To facilitate communication and cooperation among organizations and individuals of humans and robots.
  • To promote the development and improvement of our society.

3. "SYMBOLIZING SOCIETY" BANNER .

The banner depicts what our techno-civilian society stands for i.e. equality between human-kind and robots. Though we control the robots but they were treated equally. The greenery on the sides of the banner as well as the green veil depicts that our society is Eco-friendly.

4. RUBBINGS FROM THE SCRAPS: TECHNOLOGY (ECO-FRIENDLY TAXI)

I have made this Eco-friendly Taxi through the scraping for my society as our society is highly technologically developed as well as environmentally healthy. So, the Eco-friendly taxi depicts the high-tech and the nature friendly quality of our society.

RUBBINGS THAT DEPICTS OUR SOCIETY: OUR MAP

Since our society is technologically developed where we have everything we needed so we don't need any contact with other society that exist beyond us. Our society is self- sufficient. So, our society is protected with borders of forest (the green line) that shows we are Eco-friendly as well as protected by our borders to prevent attacks from other society.

Class#11 Lecture followup questions.

Lecture Followup Questions:

Describe which type of representation each image is below (Iconic, Symbolic, Indexical, or more than one?) and explain why :

1.

Younger Sir Thomas More
Holbein, Hans
oil on canvas, 1527

The Painting of the Sir Thomas More By Hans Holbein is an Iconic painting because this image doesn't have any direct relationship to the people depicted in this portrait. He created this portrait to befriend More, a powerful speaker at the English Parliament as Ductch Humanist Desiderius Erasmus  recommended him to.

2.

 Yves Klein, Anthropometry ANT 85, 1960. 155.5 x 352.5cm.

(body prints of female models painted with his universal blue)

The Yves Klein, Anthropometry is an Indexical painting as it is a true, real representation

of the relationship between the image which is depicted as a proof. The blue paint depicts

that Klein used naked female models covered in blue paint who were dragged across and

laid on the canvases to make the image. The blue paint is the evidence of the naked women

in the blue paint used as living brushes for the image.

3.

This is a Symbolic painting as the image itself symbolizes love. It doesn't resemble love but this image is represented as LOVE based on our understanding through texting.

4.

Francesca Woodman,  35 mm Photograph

The Francesca Woodman photograph is an Iconic as well as Indexical painting because the nude female model is blurred out due to her movement so she doesn't have any relationship to the painting which is Iconic while the Woodman's photograph of herself on the chair is a prove that she was there at that time is Indexical.
